I missed the hope-filled Obama years. As an American who lived abroad from 2008-2016, I was especially looking forward to being present during the era of the first female president. I moved back home just before the 2016 election and, like many others, I became angry and despondent after Inauguration Day. I began to attend political demonstrations in New York City as an attempt to reclaim my personal thread within the current American social fabric. After attending over forty of these demonstrations, I began to reflect upon the role of the individual within the collective experience.
